A MESSAGE FROM JACK GALLAWAY
A man doesn’t wake up one morning and say, “I think I’ll go out and shipwreck my life today. Yeah, I’ll just blow up my marriage and family…”
No, for most men it’s a slow boil.
And if you’re reading this, you undoubtedly have a habit or hang-up that has you whipped. (Or you know someone who does.) You notice that you’re stuck, and it’s getting worse. You fear serious consequences if things don’t change – if you don’t stop acting out and start getting better.
My name is Jack Gallaway. I’m 68 years old and have been married for 44 years. I came by my first men’s magazine when I was 13 years old, drank my first six-pack of beer when I was 15, and found myself heavy into drugs by age 19.
These powerful, destructive forces laid down a template inside of me that shaped my character and drove my behavior for much of my life. Acting out with my drugs of choice escalated through my Navy years and college, into my marriage and career, right up until that pivotal day at age 60 when a crisis event snapped me to attention.
This event was a challenging turning point that launched me into the hard work of recovery. It has been sobering to say the least (pardon the pun), but I am free from the grip and destructive effects of pornography, alcohol and drugs in my life, and live in God honoring freedom with the love of my life, my wife, each day in every way.
